The 4th International Conference "Via Egnatia" at IBSU
 Image  International Black Sea University (IBSU) hosted the 4th International Conference “Via Egnatia: Peoples and States – Cultural, Political, Regional Identities in the Past and Today” which took place on November 20-23, 2009.

 

Via Egnatia was a Roman road constructed from Adriatic Sea to Istanbul symbolizing West-East permanent interrelations. The title is used for the conference held by an international network of the same designation.

The Conference was held under the aegis of Silk Road Institute at International Black Sea University (IBSU) and Institute of History of Georgia at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU).  Professors delivered speeches at the opening of the conference in I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, after which the conference continued at International Black Sea University, where they read papers in different workshops, exchanged their ideas and contributed to the development of educational projects. After the closing session of the conference the guests were guided to Mtskheta (old capital of Georgia) to visit ancient Georgian monuments. Finally, they were invited to the concert held in Tbilisi.
