Assessment system
Please change in syllabi according to new rules, students in the first week of studies should receive syllabi with new assessment system. Also hand over to faculty quality manager new syllabi till September 5.
From academic year 2009/2010 the assessment system will be:
• The student has to receive minimum 19 points in midterm grade to be admitted to the final exam (if the grade is lower, even getting 100 points cannot let the student pass)
• The passing grade is 51 and is calculated:
60% of midterm grade plus 40% of final exam grade, each measured in 100 points.
The midterm grade consists of
• 1)Attendance
• 2) First midterm
• 3) Second midterm
• 4) Some other components the lecturer wants.
• The proportion of components 2-4 is up to the lecturer.
• If the second midterm is not held, presentation, quiz or some other grades may be counted as midterm grade
• Some other components (4th component) may be home work, presentation, quizzes, projects, etc.
Please note that
• when you enter midterm grade into database it doesn’t mean first midterm or first and second midterm grades, it means total semester grade: attendance +
+first midterm + second midterm + some other components
Attendance
• Attendance constitutes 14% of midterm grade: 1 point for each week.
• If, say, the student missed 2 hours during semester, she/he still gets maximum points (13.66 rounded is 14).
• If he/she missed 1 hour, she/he looses 1 point (13.33 rounded is 13)
Imagine, your student attended 34 out of 42 obligatory hours during the semester. As there are 3 hours per week, 34:3=11.3 but we round it up and receive 11 points for attendance. Or another student attended 18 hours. 18: 3=6. She/he will get 6 points for attendance. Still another student attended 28 hours. 29:3=9,66, you will round it up to 10 points.
